Psalm 23

1. The Lord is my shepard;  I shall not want.

2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
                   . . . . . He leadeth me beside the still waters.

3. He restoreth my soul;
       . . . .  He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
                                          . . . . I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
                                                    . . . .Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
                       . . . . . Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
            and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and forever.    Amen.

We hope to create a restful, peaceful environment for all Orthodox Monks to be able to call their own and be able to go on retreat, away from the big cities where many of them now live and serve the Orthodox faithful.
The Monastic Church will be strictly built in accordance with the Canon Law.

Debre Berhan Selassie Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Monastery will be a Christian Monastic place of worship and living in the traditional ancient ways serving God. A place to share knowledge of our Faith and Practice of Worship, where everyone will feel welcomed and free to learn and Pray.

It will architecturally reflect the traditional style of churches in Ethiopia.
Debre Berhan Selassie Monastic Church will conduct Full Liturgical Services Including Baptism, Weddings, and serve the spiritual needs of the Orthodox Community.

We also hope to have in the future a Youth facility and a Spiritual Retreat Center for all members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church community, as well as a retreat for anyone who is in need of spiritual reflection.  These facilities would further enhance the traditional evangelical ministry of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Monastic life, as a spiritual education venue in the US.
